As a farmer, carbon farming gives you the opportunity to play an active part in climate protection while increasing your income. With our practical solutions, you optimise your soils, reduce emissions and open up new sources of income. tgo AG supports you with more than 200 proven measures that we implement together – step by step.

Carbon farming for farmers: get more out of your soil

Two paths to climate performance

Choose your way into carbon farming

Mineral soils and grassland

For arable land and permanent grassland on mineral soils:

  • Humus build-up and agroforestry systems
  • Grazing integration and MikroBioTurbation
  • Carbon credits with tgo Carbon

Peatlands for prosperity – peat soils and peatlands

For rewettable peatlands and wet permanent grassland:

  • Rewetting and paludiculture
  • Funding and training (GRI, EU projects)
  • Products: reed, cattail, blueberries, biochar)

WHY CARBON FARMING WITH TGO AG

Farmer in the field

1. Tap into new sources of income

  • Monetising CO₂ sinks: Turn your work on the soil into a profitable model by selling carbon credits.
  • Stable additional income: Receive annual payments for stored carbon and sustainable practices.
  • Increased land values: Soils with high carbon sequestration are more fertile, more resilient and more valuable.

2. Improve soils, secure yields

  • More humus, more life: Strengthen your soils with innovative techniques such as humus build-up and biochar.
  • Better water and nutrient retention: Avoid yield losses caused by extreme weather conditions.
  • Longer-term fertility: Make your land more resilient and more sustainable.

3. Contribute actively to climate protection

  • Carbon sequestration in the soil: Reduce your carbon footprint and make a measurable contribution to climate protection.
  • Sustainable agriculture: Our methods promote biodiversity and strengthen nature.

Our solutions for farmers

TGO AG helps farmers get started with carbon farming

An easy start in carbon farming

  • Free introductory training:
Every month we offer practical training sessions that explain the basics and opportunities of carbon farming.
  • Individual advice:
Our experts develop tailor-made plans for your farm.
  • Soil analyses:
Precise measurements help determine the carbon potential of your land.
With carbon farming, you can increase the value of your agricultural land.

More than 200 carbon farming methods

Our measures are as diverse as agriculture itself:

  • No-till and minimum-tillage techniques:
Less soil erosion, more carbon storage.
  • Agroforestry systems:
Combining trees and agricultural use for biodiversity and CO₂ sequestration.
  • Cover crops and green manure:
Improving soil fertility and long-term carbon storage.
  • Enhanced rock weathering:
Innovative use of rock dust to stabilise CO₂ in the soil.
TGO AG makes getting started in carbon farming easy and ensures that everything runs smoothly.

GENERATE HEAT WITH AGROFORESTRY AND EARN EXTRA INCOME

Example project

Imagine you could produce enough heat energy for your entire farm every year from just 6 hectares of land, generate additional income and actively protect the climate at the same time.

Rotation principle

  • You use 6 hectares of agroforestry. Each year only 1 hectare is harvested while the other 5 hectares grow.
  • This guarantees sustainable and lasting production.

Annual yields

Heat production:
• From 72 tonnes of wood per year you generate around 100,000–150,000 kWh of usable heat – enough to heat a large farm or to sell.

CO₂ sequestration:
• Processing the wood (pyrolysis) binds carbon permanently.
• This corresponds to sequestration of around 25–35 tonnes of CO₂ per year (conservative: approx. 18 t biochar × around 2 t CO₂). At €120–150 per tonne this equals roughly €3,000–5,000 from carbon credits.

Biochar:
• As a by-product, high-quality biochar is produced, which you can sell, use on your soils or use for further carbon credits.

Your benefits

Cost savings:
• You generate your own heat energy and save on energy costs.

Additional income:
• In addition to heat production, you benefit from carbon credits and from using or selling biochar.

Climate protection:
• With your agroforestry system, you make your farm climate-neutral or even climate-positive.

Why should you act now?

  • Rising energy prices: With your own energy production, you become independent.
  • Growing demand for carbon credits: Secure a lucrative source of income now.
  • Sustainable agriculture: Your farm becomes not only economically stronger but also ecologically fit for the future.

CONCLUSION

With an agroforestry system on just 6 hectares, you can permanently generate heat energy, protect the climate and earn additional income.

It doesn’t get simpler or more sustainable than this.

WORKED EXAMPLES FROM PRACTICE

HUMUS BUILD-UP

IN LOWER SAXONY

“A farm of around 400 ha sequestering 2.5 t CO₂ per ha per year stores around 1,000 t CO₂ – at €40–60 per tonne that is €40,000–60,000 gross before measurement and certification costs.

BIOCHAR APPLICATION

IN BAVARIA

“Better soil structure, improved water retention and lower fertiliser requirements.”

AGROFORESTRY SYSTEMS

IN NRW

“A family farm increases biodiversity and sequesters 15 tonnes of CO₂ per year”

AGRICOIN
For farmers · a tgo AG platform

Measure humus, build it up and sell it as genuine CO₂ tonnes – up to 65% of the revenue goes to the farm. Only re-measured gains are paid.
